Why don't you sit right down and stay awhile

A famous movie actress and an almost famous singer. This is Zooey Deschanel. The American girl made her debut when she was nineteen years old and continued with a lot of movies. She has played roles in all kind of movies: from thrillers like 'The Happening', to comedies like 'Elf', to children's films like 'Bridge to Terabithia', and she even made an appearance in some episodes of the series 'Weeds'.

As I already said, besides acting she also likes to sing. It started when Zooey and the musician M. Ward met on the set of a movie. They performed a duet together and after a few talks the band 'She & Him' was formed. Matt (that's mister Ward's real name. Good thing he decided to only show his initial in his artist name. Sounds interesting, don't you think?) and Zooey launched their first album, Volume One, in March this year. It contains sweet, quirky and retro songs:

"Why do you let me stay here?"

"Sweet darlin' ", unfortunately no video but some lovely pictures.

And I have good news: they are currently working on a new album! M. Ward announced this in October, so hopefully Volume Two will be launched in the beginning of the new year. He said about it: "Zooey has about a gazillion brand new awesome songs. All we know about Volume Two is that it's going to be twice as good as Volume One."

I adore the music from Camille. It started when I discovered her music video of ‘Paris’ with her enthusiastic dancesteps, the tapdancer and the funny lyrics. And ofcourse, it’s French mon amour.

Did you already listen to Carla Bruni's new album? It's called "Comme si de rien n'était", which means "As if nothing happened". It's her third album already, but the wife of French president Sarkozy did it again: a perfect album full of sweet chansons.

Mr. Mraz at his best

I really really like Jason Mraz. He's funny and a good singer with lovely songs. You probably know him from his last album, "We sing, we dance, we steal things". It's a nice album, but in my opinion defenitely not his best. And that's why I'd like to introduce you to his old songs today!

First of all, Prettiest Friend. One of the cutest songs ever. Everytime I hear that sentence "I wrote this for my prettiest friend", it makes me smile.

Today is the day, Angus and Julia Stone released their new album! It's called "Hollywood", the same as the first single from the EP. That's a lovely song, with inventive lyrics and a must-watch video.



Tonight they're playing at the Little Noise Sessions in London. And guess who's also playing there tonight? Damien Rice! It's a pity London is a tiny bit too far away.

The pronounciation of Psapp

Carim Clasmann and Gaia Durant, the dynamic duo known as Psapp, are back with an new album! The name is: The Camel's Back, and today it already exists for three days.
You may know Psapp from "Cosy in the Rocket", Grey's Anatomy's theme song. And if you don't, you should know them by now.

It makes me so curious about the other songs! I love their sound, soft electronica with use of toys and other weird stuff, well that's a creative mind!

And I shared a secret, secret with a stranger

It took some time, but my first video of the concert from Cocoon is online. The concert was amazing! Mark and Morgane were so funny. And they sound beautiful live, very beautiful.



Everytime I watch this video it makes me happy. We spend almost 13 hours in Amsterdam so I think you can imagine how tired, but fulfilled, we went home. It was such a perfect day.

Let's show me some great sense of style

If there’s anyone I'd love to look like, it’s the British style-icon, former fashionmodel and TV presenter Alexa Chung. She’s got lovely outfits and must have a marvellous wardrobe. Oh, and she’s pretty pretty pretty.

I especially like the lace dress from the second pic. If anyone knows where I can find something like that, I'd be thankful forever and ever.

Well, tomorrow - or actually tonight, because it's already the 23th, hurray! - I'll go to a concert in Paradiso, Amsterdam. It's from Cocoon, two wonderful French musicians. Here's one video, I hope the day after tomorrow there'll be some live videos!

Home sweet home

Five Swedish girls, known as Those Dancing Days came up with a new album: In Our Space Hero Suits. They made a nice song, “Home sweet home”, with an incredible video:



This video portrays my imagination so much. I would love to jump into a postcard, discovering what’s behind it.

It's a wrap!

So there it is. My lovely little things blog, named after a song from the amazing and beautiful Regina Spektor. The singer, you probably all know, but who nonetheless deserves it to be on my blog. Unfortunately no video for this good, good song, but just listening is also worth it.



And then there came Ben Folds, also an eccentric genius. And they mixed their voices in one, such an adorable, song. Below isn't the official video, but I like this one too much for not posting it. Isn't it a great concept?
