Hello, meet Anna Karina. She's a French actress, born in Denmark in 1940. Anna moved to Paris when she was eighteen years old and became a rising fashion model. Guess who she met there? Pierre Cardin and Coco Chanel, lucky girl. Her first film appearance in 1959 led to a fabulous career as an actress. And she has some great great photo's.
This short movie is simply wonderful. It's about a young boy, Pascal, who becomes friends with a red balloon. The balloon follows him everywhere he goes, until the gang of boys destroy it. You have to watch the end by yourself, because it's too sweet to just reveal it now.
The streets of Paris always make a film look beautiful. I love the way Albert Lamorisse used it, it worked again!
If there's a thing I really love, it's an oldfashioned movie. The clothing, the whole setting, the language ("It's marvelous, marvelous!") and the wonderful actors and actresses are delightful. Jean Seberg is one of them, the boyish American actress from the '60s.
This is a clip from the movie "Bonjour tristesse", made in 1958. Jean plays Cecile, a seventeen years old girl who spends her summer holiday with her father.
I haven't seen any movies with the lovely Jean yet, but I'm searching for this one. Or her most famous one, "À Bout de Souffle", which was the French classic that listed her as a screen icon. Sounds très bien, n'est-ce pas?
